Two new yellow flashing warning lights were installed on both sides of east bound SR 674 to alert motorists coming into Sun City Center to watch out for golf carts for the next 1.2 miles.
Sun City Center is a golf cart community that allows its residents to drive golf carts on the roads that have 30 mph speed limits or under.
The carts can even cross over State Route 674 at three different locations. This allows golf carts to go anywhere in the 55+ age-restricted area to shop, dine and golf or whatever else they decide to do for the day.
Some residents do everything in their Eco-friendly, cost-efficient carts. It has been said that it only cost about $1.00/day to operate a golf cart, so many keep their cars parked in the garage and some have even sold their cars altogether.
